Workshop på Queer Tattoo Expo!

A practical skills workshop for beginners, focused on hygiene and safety, by Alex Cfourpo

The best way to get into tattooing is through an apprenticeship, and I would recommend this to anyone. But, this is not easy, and there aren’t a lot of studios that are explicitly safe for queer and trans people and people of color. Realistically, most people I know got into tattooing by starting out at home – and this is exactly what I did 10 years ago.

A disclaimer: Unless you have a dedicated, professional home studio, it’s not possible to achieve the standard of hygiene and safety of a tattoo studio in a home environment. This workshop is not made to encourage people to tattoo or get tattooed in ways that are unsafe. I realize, from experience, that people are going to tattoo at home anyway, and with this workshop i want to help you do this as safe as possible.

If you’re bipoc, queer, or trans, and tattooing outside of a studio in any capacity, this workshop is for you. There is space for 10 people to take part in the workshop. Write to if you’d like to join, and please let me know if there are specific things you’d like to learn!
